Class Rules
- Arrive on-time to help set up mats
- Check-in at Hart House Fitness Front Desk
- Place bags in locker rooms
- Do not step on mats with shoes
- Always be respectful to the training space and training partners
Hygiene
- Trim finger and toe nails
- Come to class clean
- Shower right after class at the gym or at home
- Wear clean clothes
- Routinely check skin for infections such as ringworm, mat herpes, and staph
- If you’re unsure, bring it up to the instructor and go to the doctor. Skin infections common in grappling are contagious and can be dangerous if left untreated.
- Do NOT train while ill or infected
- Cover and keep open wounds clean
Clothing and Attire
- Gym attire
- Athletic shorts/pants, leggings
- Athletic t-shirt or rash guard
- You may wear socks if your feet are scrapped from the mat
- Nothing loose fitting
- Cannot be shirtless
- We recommend avoiding tank tops
- Long hair neatly kept or tied back
- No jewelry
- No belts
- Acceptable to wear wrestling shoes, knee pads, and head gear
Rules while rolling
- Must stop grappling when your partner taps
- Forbidden moves and techniques
- Slams
- Striking
- Neck cranks
- Only use the following skills if you are experienced
- Leg Locks
- Twister
- Wrist Locks
- Calf and Bicep Slicers
